Dedham, MA Family Photo Session at The Fairbanks House {W/ The Hay Family}

I am excited to share previews from my fall family mini session with the Hay family. I’ve actually known Sarah since back in my corporate marketing days and have loved photographing her family over the years. I first photographed newborn Theo nearly six years ago. What a big kid he is now! Happy almost birthday!

And I am thrilled to debut this historic location. We photographed this mini session at The Fairbanks House in Dedham. Built in 1641, The Fairbanks House is the oldest surviving timber-framed home in North America. We used the beautiful grounds to capture the foliage but the historic house is also quite beautiful. Right now, they are scheduling outdoor tours and you can view a virtual indoor tour as well. More information on their website: The Fairbanks House. A huge thanks to the town for allowing us to photograph on their grounds.

If you’re interested in booking a socially distanced family photo shoot, please contact me today. I will be taking a limited number of clients in October.

Dedham, MA Family Photo Session at The Fairbanks House {W/ The Tharp Family}

Well I can go ahead and say that my fall family mini session with the Tharp family was by far my most hilarious one yet. I met Erica (co-owner of Common Ground Yoga in Framingham, MA) earlier this year when photographing her beautiful studio and was excited to meet her family this weekend. Her boys, Miles and Drew, are simply hilarious and the family chemistry is just palpable. I absolutely loved working with them and smiled the entire time while I edited this session. I love capturing all the laughs and seeing a glimpse of what a family dinner at the Tharp house would be like. I hope you enjoy these previews from their fall family mini sessions.

This was my second session captured at The Fairbanks House in Dedham. Built in 1641, The Fairbanks House is the oldest surviving timber-framed home in North America. And, isn’t this foliage just beautiful? This caught my eye the other evening while driving by and I was thrilled when they gave me permission to photograph on their grounds. You can read more about this historic house and schedule a tour on their website: The Fairbanks House. A huge thanks to the town for allowing us to photograph on their grounds.

Minis are great for families looking to get a short stack of images so to speak. If you're looking for a few images for a holiday card, this is your session!

They are quick in nature so they're good for young kids who don't have a ton of patience to be photographed for a long period of time. And, dads rejoice! Just kidding. But not really.

Well behaved dogs are welcome when the location permits.

They are back to back with other families so there isn't that super personalized individual vibe you'd get from a full session but I strive to still capture the unique energy of your family and children.

I ask all families to let me know their priority shot. Are you hoping to get one of the whole family, just the kids, kids individually, kids just with mom or kids just with dad? Let me know and we'll shoot in that order. We may have time for everything I just listed, but if you tell me what's most important to you, we'll shoot that first and go from there.

My style is candid so while we can try to get one with everyone smiling at the camera, I find the candid tickle fight style images to be the most adorable and memorable.

COVID 19 Update: To keep both me and you safe, there are a few new parameters this year.

  • Clients who have tested positive for Covid 19 or have been around anyone who has tested positive within the last 14 days will be asked to reschedule. There will be no charge to reschedule sessions for this reason.

  • Clients are asked to reschedule their session should any member of their family experience Corona Virus symptoms within the last 14 days. There will be no charge to reschedule sessions for this reason.

  • Clients are required to wear a mask to and from their session. (You can obviously remove your mask while being photographed.)

  • I will be 6 feet or more from you and your family at all times.

  • Clients may not stand behind me to get little one’s attention.

  • Clients are required to stay socially distant from other families as they arrive for their session and wear masks while waiting.

  • As always, these will be outside.

  • Please note that I will wear a mask before and after sessions but will likely remove it during the session as it causes my viewfinder to fog. (A viewfinder is the part I look through to see you.) I will not come within 6 feet of your family at any time.

  • No hugs. :/ It is going to be so hard to not hug each and every one of you! I’ve been photographing these sessions and watching your families grow for so many years now, but we have to stay safe.

  • If you have additional suggestions on how to stay safe while socially distance photographing, I welcome your feedback.
